We met at a BBQ...

On Sunday, April 19, 2015, Mark hosted a BBQ at his house in San Mateo. One of Mark and Kimmy’s mutual friends, Sarah Boragno, planned to go and also bring Kimmy along for the ride. Little did Mark know, she wanted Mark and Kimmy to meet to see if there were any sparks.

Sarah and Kimmy showed up fashionably late at Mark’s BBQ (of course). Friends were leaving and a smaller group remained. Mark welcomed Kimmy to his house but other than a “Nice to meet you,” Mark didn’t really instigate any more chit chat. The cat may have gotten his tongue, but he did, however, start a very obvious text conversation with Sarah about Kimmy (literally sitting five feet away). He inquired if she was Sarah’s crazy friend whom he had always heard stories about when they carpooled to work together. Sarah replied, “Yes, but she isn’t AS crazy anymore. She’s calmed down a bit.” Mark continued to text with Sarah to get the scoop on Kimmy's story without looking too conspicuous.

Two days later, Mark was ready to pounce (meeooow). Around 7am on the following Tuesday, Kimmy received a text from a random number that read, "Hey, this is Mark from the BBQ..." She wasn't impressed by the awkward introduction but was certainly intrigued. They quickly found humor in it together. As the day went on, so did the banter. Mark asked Kimmy if she wanted to grab a drink and they met that night at O'Neill's Irish Pub in San Mateo. With a little luck of the Irish, some crazy chemistry and Cupid Boragno's bow and arrow, the rest is history.
